Emerson Radio Corp., founded in 1948, is a large volume consumer electronics distributor with a recognized trademark. It continues to be one of the oldest and well-respected names in the consumer electronics industry. Products include Digital Versatile Disc (DVD) players and video cassette recorders (VCR's) besides other consumer electronic products.
The company distributes its products primarily through mass merchants, discount retailers, and specialty catalogers and, to a lesser degree, the Internet. Its core business consists primarily of the distribution and sale of various low to moderately priced product categories.
There are two models -DVD Recorder EWR10D4 and Emerson VCR/DVD Recorder Combo EWR20V4. The advanced Emerson unit combines a state-of-the-art DVD recorder and VCR into one easy-to-use unit. The DVD recorder features 1.2X/1.5X/2X zoom and DVD/DVD-R/RW, MP3 and VHS compatibility. Plus, it records up to 10 hours onto a DVD-R/RW disc.
The VCR has four heads for superior slow motion and stop action, digital tracking and more. Deck also has 181-channel cable ready tuner, Dolby digital technology, MTS/SAP stereo sound, digital and analog audio out, front and rear A/V inputs, component and S-video inputs/outputs.
The 17"W x 3"H x 10"D model is factory serviced to meet original quality standards. Reviews are not very positive about Emerson DVD recorders. They show disc error because Emerson isn't compatible with DVD-R for General 2.0 discs. It only reads 1.0 discs 1x-2x. The recorder also lacks when it comes to editing as it is not compatible with most DVD-ROM and set-top drives.
