DivX files are based on MPEG4 technology (more advanced than MPEG2 of current DVD movies). They need far less disc capacity to contain high resolution to DVD, one DivX movie can be compressed and fully recorded onto 600MB CD disc with down mixed 2Channel stereo sounds.
